Sri Lanka's first bank to take its systems and processes to the Cloud

Sampath Bank Plc, Sri Lanka’s leading private bank in Sri Lanka was the first bank to take its systems and processes to the Cloud.

Sampath Bank is tied up with multiple cloud vendors and fortunetly Saberion is a part of that. The Bank has selected AWS to host their internal E-Learning application. The finance sector bank looked at the benefits, which are as follows:

1. Upfront capital investment is not required because costs involved are operational, resulting in significant cost savings. 

2. The pay-as-you go philosophy is cost-efficient because payment is based on computing capacity used. 

3. The dynamic scalability automatically adjusts to accommodate changes in usage. 

4. Elastic Load Balancing distributes incoming application traffic for peak processing efficiency.

Also the challenge was to meet the security levels which bank requires as a finance sector and Saberion was able to provide the required security because of the verity of Services provided by AWS. Environment uses AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) to structure and monitor different levels of security and infrastructure operates in an Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) to provide tiered security and the connectivity from bank to AWS is via Amazon Virtual Private Gateway.
